Fondness and Admiration in a Relationship

Image
May 29 at 11:50am Manage Discussion Entry The definition of fondness and admiration is the amount of affection and respect in a relationship. This is important to have in a relationship to help you and your significant other grow closer to each other and build a strong relationship for marriage. This principle is good to know before and even after you are married. I am not married yet but I will be soon! I think this principle has helped me in my relationship with my fiance by learning to cherish it. I have learned to cherish all that he does for me and to let our relationship blossom each day by spending time with each other and learning new things about each other. An example of something that I cherish that my fiance does is that sometimes he will send me the longest messages that are all about how much he cares about me and what he likes about me. When I am having a bad day or even when I wake up, I sometimes have a huge text message from him and it makes my whole day...

A Happy Marriage

Image
I have an older sister named Ellie, and last June she married her husband Nate. It has almost been a year since they have been married and wow that time really flew by. She is a great example to me in so many ways, but especially in her marriage. When she found Nate, my family and I were so happy for her. We knew that she was marrying the right person and we couldn’t have been more excited for her. The funny thing is that they almost look like siblings! They both are pretty tall and have blonde hair and everyone always asks if they are siblings. Nate fits right in with our family. It's obvious to me that their marriage is full of positive outcomes and experiences. Their marriage is not perfect, but I can tell that their marriage is full of happiness and love as well as many other positive things. I noticed that they have a positive relationship in their marriage because they are always doing little things for each other. Sometimes Nate will make dinner for Ellie because he wants...

A Covenant Marriage

Image
There are a few things in particular that I want to implement into my life to ensure that my marriage is a covenant marriage and not a contractual marriage. One that I would like to implement into my life when I get married is taking care of my husband. I want to serve and care for him, especially when he is going through a trial. It’s important that we love and care for each other. Another one that I think is important to keep a covenant marriage is to know that natures of male and female spirits complete and perfect each other. One gender is not better or above the other, they are equal and complete each other. Another thing that I want to implement into my life is to focus on the important of eternal marriage and how that works with the Father’s Plan of Happiness. Elder Bednar gives a talk called “Marriage is Essential to His Eternal Plan.” In there he says, “Emphasizing marriage without linking it to the simple and fundamental doctrine of the plan of happiness cannot provide...

There Is Power In Family

Image
We are all faced with challenges and trials in our lives. We can choose to learn and grow from them and make us stronger. I know that I cannot go through these challenges with out the help of my Heavenly Father. He helps me, and helps all of us to get through anything as long as we are willing to turn to him. Another person I think that can also help us with our daily challenges is our spouse. In my case it is my fiance. Because of the wonderful example he is to me, I know that we will both prepare for the times that are tough and that we can learn and grow from each other. Like President Nelson said, "There is great power in a strong relationship. True partners can achieve more than the sum of each action alone. With true partners, one plus one is much more than two." I love this quote from him because it talks about the the power and unity of having someone you love be there with you to help you overcome your challenges. I know that I am not perfect, but I have a great exa...

Preparing Our Homes

Image
I love the quote from President Kimball when he says, "...only those who believe deeply and actively in the family will be able to preserve their families in the midst of the gathering evil around us." President Kimball speaks of the power of family when it continues to grow as a whole and are strengthened by each other. In this world that we live in today, we are constantly surrounded by temptations and by those who pressure us to do what everyone else is doing. While Satan is trying to gather families to destruction, I will make sure to make my home gospel centered and where the Holy Spirit can be present. When our homes are filled with the gospel, evil cannot enter in. If we have a spiritual foundation in our home, then we can it can be the rock of our Redeemer. I want our home to be a place where we can be strengthened by each other. In D&C 88:119 it says, "Organize yourselves; prepare every needful thing; and establish a house, even a house of prayer, a house of...
